Tucked between the King Ranch and the City of Corpus Christi, and adjacent to Padre Island, the Flour Bluff and East Flour Bluff fields have produced more than 700 billion cubic feet of gas and 39 million barrels of oil and condensate since their discovery by Humble Oil in 1936. Production peaked at more than 200 MMCFD but had declined to less than 1 MMCFD by 1990 when Manti purchased the fields from Exxon.

obvious environmental issues were superimposed upon technical challenges: abnormally pressured sands interspersed with drawndown reservoirs, aging facilities, and sand production problems. Also, the acquistion of seismic data within the city limits of Corpus Christi and in the waters of the Laguna Madre presented a unique set of challenges.

After acquiring these fields from Exxon in 1990, Manti initiated a phased, progressive redevelopment program. Work began with low-cost workovers to test some of its ideas and to establish cash flow.

As these proved successful, the Company began experimenting with more costly re-entries and stimulations. All the while, the company's top priority was good relations with the people of Flour Bluff and with personnel at the myriad regulatory bodies involved in the area.

All told, Manti and partners invested $7 million to drill 14 wells, perform in excess of 30 major workovers, install 3 platforms, and expand the existing network of pipelines and gathering systems. The work programs were successful in restoring tested capacity at the field to 20 MMCFD and 500 BOPD. Furthermore, work program results pointed to significant additional potential. The fields were sold in 1994.
